Intercultural Sensitivity

A healthy forest is composed of many different layers of spices and organisms. Much like the forest, a healthy organization is composed of many different people, skills, and abilities. The greater the diversity the stronger the forest.

One of the contemporary issues facing HR professionals today is intercultural sensitivity. The world is at our fingertips and with this global economy, it is ever more important to create inclusive equitable environments. We can all start by simply stating our pronouns and giving thanks for the privilege we have to be able to live, work, and play on the lands of our First Nations Peoples.

This piece is a short leadership letter addressing inclusivity and its importance in workplace culture. I am a strong proponent for workplace cultural sensitivity training as it helps people respond and become aware of their unconscious biases and stereotypes. This can help reduce tension and create better collaboration and teamwork.
